Sound Effect Generator for Games

Click a pad and hear a laser, coin, jump, hit or power-up instantly. Shift the pitch, stretch the length, swap the waveform and compare three takes, then download the one you like as a WAV. Like classic sfxr-style tools, it synthesizes every sound in your browser — free, with no samples.

How to Make Game Sound Effects

  1. 1

    Pick a sound type

Click one of ten pads (or press keys 1–0), or describe the sound — “coin pickup chime” picks the coin sound.

  2. 2

    Shape it

Move the pitch up or down by up to 12 semitones, stretch or shorten it from 0.25× to 3×, and swap the waveform between square, sawtooth, sine and triangle.

  3. 3

    Compare three takes

Take A uses your pitch, Take B is two semitones higher and Take C two semitones lower — handy for varied footsteps, hits and pickups.

  4. 4

    Download a WAV

Save the selected take as a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit mono WAV and drop it into your engine.

Ten Retro Sound Types

Laser for shots and beams; Explosion for blasts; Coin for pickups and rewards; Power-up for level-ups and buffs; Hit for damage; Jump for jumps and dashes; UI Click and UI Cancel for menus; Magic Spell for casting; and Victory Fanfare for wins and completed quests.

Custom Roblox Sound Effects

Make your own Roblox sound effects instead of searching the audio library: generate a coin, jump or hit sound, download the WAV and upload it through the Creator Hub or the Asset Manager in Studio. Put the asset ID into a Sound object’s SoundId and play it from a script when the event happens.

Use Take A, B and C for the same action — for example three coin sounds — and pick one at random in your script so repeated sounds do not get tiring.

Using the Sounds in Unity, Godot and Unreal

WAV files import directly into Unity, Godot and Unreal — drag them into the project and assign them to an audio source.

What You Get

Sound Effect Generator FAQ

Is the sound effect generator free?

Yes. Making, previewing and downloading sound effects is free.

Can I use the sounds in commercial games?

Yes. The sounds you make are yours to use in free and commercial projects.

What file format do I get?

A WAV file (44.1 kHz, 16-bit, mono), which every game engine can import.

How is it different from sfxr?

It is built for speed: ten tuned presets, three takes per sound and a few clear controls (pitch, length, waveform) instead of dozens of synth sliders.

Can it make realistic sounds like footsteps or rain?

No. It synthesizes retro, 8-bit style effects. For realistic sounds, record or license samples.
