Make a game pass icon→How the Roblox Tax Works
The “Roblox tax” is the marketplace fee Roblox takes from each sale — it is not a government tax. For game passes, developer products and private servers, Roblox keeps 30% and you receive 70% of the price. A 100 Robux game pass pays you 70 Robux, and a 1,000 Robux pass pays 700. Robux are whole numbers, so the calculator rounds your share down.
The Robux you receive from sales are Earned Robux, the only kind you can exchange for money. Premium Payouts work differently: they are based on how much time Premium members spend in your experience, not on a price, so the 30% fee does not apply to them.
The Exact Amount to Price a Game Pass
To receive an exact amount, divide it by 0.7 and round up. If you want 100 Robux from every sale, set the price to 143: Roblox keeps 43 and you get 100. The same prices work for developer products and private servers. For any other amount, use the Exact price tab above.

DevEx Rates in 2026
The Developer Exchange (DevEx) turns Earned Robux into real money. The standard rate is $0.0038 per Earned Robux: $114 for the 30,000 Robux minimum and $380 for 100,000. Robux earned before September 5, 2025 are exchanged at the old rate of $0.0035, and they are cashed out first.
Since June 8, 2026, Roblox also pays a higher U.S. 18+ rate of $0.0054 per Earned Robux for developer products, passes, subscriptions and private servers bought by U.S. players who have verified they are 18 or older, in experiences that qualify for that rate. The DevEx portal shows how much of your balance is at each rate — enter that amount in the calculator to include it.
To cash out you need at least 30,000 Earned Robux, and you must be 13 or older, have a verified email address, a DevEx portal account and a completed tax form. Robux you bought cannot be exchanged.
How Taxes Work on Roblox DevEx
Roblox’s 30% fee is taken when the sale happens, so DevEx converts the Robux you have already received — the fee is not taken a second time when you cash out.
DevEx payouts are income. Before your first cash-out, Roblox asks for a tax form: a W-9 if you are a U.S. person, or a W-8 if you are not. Whether you owe income tax, and how much, depends on where you live. This calculator shows amounts before any income tax; ask a tax professional about your own situation.
Avatar Item and Clothing Revenue Share (2026)
Since July 14, 2026, Roblox uses the same rules for 2D clothing and 3D avatar items. In the Marketplace the creator’s share is progressive: 30% when the item is priced at its price floor, rising as the price goes up — 50% at twice the floor and 70% at six times the floor or more. Choose “sold in the Marketplace” above and enter the price floor to see your share.
When an item is sold inside an experience, the creator always receives 30% and the experience owner 40%.
Uploading a classic shirt, pair of pants or T-shirt costs 80 Robux, and putting it on sale takes a 10 Robux publishing advance that is paid back to you as the item sells. You also need ID verification (or a linked parent account), and Roblox’s July 2026 announcement adds an active Plus or Premium subscription to keep items on sale.
